Jam Art Factory.....

Attention artists, art lovers and those of you who just like to hang pretty things on their walls! I called into Jam Art Factory on Patrick’s street today to see the space dedicated to showcasing the work of established and up and coming Irish designers and artists. The gallery itself is a great combination of homely and modern with two stoves and bright, clean space it’s ideal to spend an afternoon in having a snoop. Also they have everything! From amazing prints to t-shirts to handmade jewellery to laser cut notebooks (my favourite) it’s perfect for presents or 101 questions from visitors as to where you got your print hanging in your sitting room. Not ones to let any creative outlet unseen of the Jam Art Factory also hold acoustic music sessions, make sure to check out their wonderful website (international shipping for those of you abroad who want a taste of the Irish independent art scene) and Facebook.

Tuesday Love....

Courtesy of our intern Kim, enjoy!

Awards season is here and we’re here to judge. There’s nothing better to distract from a dreary weekday in February than having an intense discussion with your housemate about the best dressed verdict that was stuck on Jennifer Lawrence (kudos for recovering from her Carrie Bradshaw moment though). We disagree; we’re backing Amanda Seyfried in lilac Alexander McQueen and Amy Adams in the I-stepped-straight-out-of-a-fairytale Oscar de la Renta. Honourable mention for the Jessica Rabbit inspired hairdo sported by Jessica Chastain, hair porn at it’s most luxurious.

Tropical Popical...
The fashion world seems to be in a nail art frenzy at the moment and with the opening of hot new nail bar, Tropical Popical, in our own fair city you have no excuse not to follow suite. Located on South William Street and described as “Tropical scenes with a soundtrack of pop via a love affair with Dublin; flashy fashions; colourful nails and more than a dash of kitsch” taking inspiration from a trip to the homeland of good nails, the US you know you’re hands are going to be in good hands. Plus their Facebook and Pinterest are amazing, especially “ride of the week”! (

JW Anderson for Topshop...
The second coming of JW Anderson X Topshop has me, for one, very excited. Having fawned over the first collection, the second has a feel of off kilter school girl with lots of argyle, structured tailoring, boyish shoes and of course, black. My wishlist consists of the kilt, vinyl trench and the dodo embossed button up.

The Blonds...
One of the most unique and frighteningly good shows from NYFW was the fall line from The Blonds’. Inspired by Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock models took to the runway in what can only be described as asylum chic. The brand designed by David and Phillipe Blond and sported by celebrities like Katy Perry and Beyonce, croquet mallets at the ready, is blood is the new black?

Spring summer trends...

We want to welcome our lovely guest blogger and intern for the week, Kim! Keep an eye out for daily blog posts from Kim over the next couple of days!

First up is Kim's favourite trends for the coming season... do you spot some of yours? Let us know!

It seems like such a long time ago that I was glued to the fashion week coverage for Spring Summer 2013. I distinctly remember wanted to shed my winter coat in favour of a LWD (Little White Dress), I’ll take the broderie anglaise effect one from Moschino complete with matching beehive please. The time has come at long last and the high street is now awash with everything you need to try re-create the catwalk look on the cheap. Here is your inspiration for getting an enviable wardrobe to show off in the sun(!)ready, set, shop!

One of my favourite trends that emerged from the catwalks of Prada, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood was a new take on the traditional Oriental style. Dubbed by Vogue as the “Nouvelle Japonisme”. Except to be wearing kimono-espue draped jackets and dresses, obi belts and flatform sandals (worn with socks at Prada, is this right? I can’t decide!). Winged eyeliner and fans not welcome, this is fashion not fancy dress.

(Vivienne Westwood, Prada, Emilio Pucci)

The 60’s is having a fashion revival this summer especially with Moschino’s knock out collection at Milan Fashion Week. Focusing mainly on silhouette at Louis Vuitton and prints at Holly Fulton, the fash pash followed suit this is a trend that can be so fun for daytime Spring/Summer looks. Kitchy retro is definitely back!

As a colour synonymous with summer, white always features heavily in the trends and a white dress is the wardrobe staple this year. From super fine knits at Missoni to delicate lace at Jill Stuart to sharp minimalistic tailoring at Jil Sander, white has been interpreted in so many different ways so there’s something for everyone! If you’re feeling brave, try head to toe.

Finally my favourite trend, contemporary romanticism. Basically anything that makes you feel super pretty, soft colours, floaty sheer fabrics and feminine shapes. Imagine what you would wear to a romantic date with Anna Wintour on Valentine’s Day. Oscar de la Renta’s sculpted roses are reminisicant of Alice in Wonderland and new take on the (let’s face it) dated floral prints that we’re well used to.

Wedding Fever....

Firstly, any brides to be out there looking to plan a vintage wedding you have got to attend the 'Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair' held on the 23rd & 24th of March in the Davenport Hotel, Merrion St Lower.

 photo Dublinfairimage_zps0a41a1c4.png

'The event will showcase the talents of the many quirkier, more original and of course vintage style wedding vendors from across the country. Stalls will range from vintage car hire, retro wedding bands and quirky bakeries to hand made and vintage hair accessories and clothing. There will also be a vintage tea party and goodie bag as well as live DIY hair and make up demos included in the entrance fee of €6'

(Kinda sounds like fun even if you aren't getting married anytime soon! Seriously though pop along if you are looking for some fun ideas for your wedding.)

Secondly we want to say a big thank you to for asking us to be their guest bloggers for the month of February. Our last blog post is going up this Friday and you can read our previous ones by clicking here. We really enjoyed exploring Dirty Fabulous, getting make up tips off Siobhan and being nosy & asking Allie & Jenny all about their big day!
